I use this database of marketing tactics to inspire my marketing team with new ideas quarter after quarter.

How to use the template

These marketing tactics are focused around generating awareness and demand for your product. Demand that you can either convert through a product-led or sales-led motion.

I recommend you review the Demand Generation Strategy Template first. It's important to set your strategy first. Then identify the right tactics to drive your target outcomes within your strategy. I'll give you an example of how tactics can deviate from your strategy.

At our venture-backed, B2B SaaS company, we defined our ideal customer profile (ICP) to be small-medium businesses (SMBs).

On multiple occasions, our CEO introduced me to contacts that were offering us a "unique opportunity" to participate in some marketing campaign or event.

My first question was always, "what's the make up of the audience?" And in many of those cases, the audience was enterprise buyers, not SMB. And every time, my response was the same. "No".

It was a deviation from our marketing strategy and our product wasn't ready to serve the enterprise. Despite our ability to land an enterprise customer from time to time, it wasn't our organizational strategy.
