  • UTM Builder: This tab enables you to input your URL and campaign level details. I recommend using drop down selectors for your Medium and Source fields. That way, when your team uses this builder, everyone is picking from a consistent pick list. Your UTM URLs will be generated in the far right column. You can simply copy and paste them for use in your marketing campaign.
  • UTM Parameters Defined: This tab explain what each UTM parameter means. Marketing attribution can get confusing quickly. Here, I try to simplify it for you, so that you and your team can achieve better visibility into your marketing activities.

How to use the

  1. Review all tabs to familiarize yourself with the content.
  2. Study the UTM parameter definitions.
  3. Document your primary channels and sub-channels within dropdowns under the Medium and Source columns. You can use our Marketing Attribution Template to help.
  4. Train your entire marketing team on how to use this UTM builder, so that the process is standardized.
  5. For your next campaign, generate the UTM URL, then use that link for your campaign to track the performance of it.
  6. Analyze the campaign performance data within Google Analytics or whichever reporting tool your use.
