Here's how I recommend you populate your marketing calendar :

1. Review all tabs in the spreadsheet first. It's always good to familiarize yourself with the content before you really dig in.
2. Define your high level goals. I use this OKR Tracker Template.    
3. Identify the key initiative to achieve your goals.  
4. List out all the campaigns / marketing activities your team will do throughout the quarter.  
5. Schedule the work to align with resources and lead requirements based on your revenue forecast.
6. Reference in your weekly marketing team meeting to confirm projects are on track.
   

There are many project management software applications that can help you manage your marketing calendar. I have tried Airtable, Monday.com, Notion and Asana. While I think all of them are world class applications, sometimes a simple view in Google Sheets makes it easier to digest all the activities that are going on in a given quarter across your team.

Besides, who needs to pay for another piece of software :)
