The first major problem was not having a clearly defined marketing strategy. And so that led us to run a bunch of experimental campaigns that didn’t actually generate any revenue for the business.

The second problem was not clearly defining why we were running each marketing campaign and the expected results from them.  

We implemented this template to track the goals of every marketing campaign and the expected results of each of them.

Here’s how I recommend you put this to work for your business:

1. Review all tabs in the spreadsheet first. It's always good to familiarize yourself with the content before you really dig in.
2. Make sure you have clearly defined your marketing strategy and that the campaigns you are running align with your strategy.
3. Create a unique table for each channel you are running campaigns (e.g Facebook Ads, Google Ads, Sponsored Newsletter, etc).
4. Write down each campaign name within each channel category.
5. Define the purpose, the target audience, the owner and the target metrics.
6. Run the campaign and see how the actual performance compares with what you expected.
7. Decide whether to stop, continue or optimize the campaign.  
   

Doing this will immediately save you wasted time and resources.
